Auto Insurance Claims: Confused, bmw 540i, auto insurance policy

Question
Hi my question is about insurance covering transmission.  I bought a used 94 bmw 540i. about two months after I bought the car the transmisson stopped working.  The first two weeks I had it I had to get it towed to a auto shop becuase the alarm  stopped working.  When I bought the car I was not told to change the oil right away.  I was told by the transmission shop that the insurance company will not pay for a new transmission because I didnt get the oil changed right away but I did change the oil at 3,000 miles.  I do not know what to do, Ive had problems with this car since I bought it. Please Help!

Answer
Hi Nicole,

Auto insurance does not pay for ANY mechanical breakdown issues. The only time auto insurance pays is if you are involved in a collision or your car is stolen or vandalized, etc. There is no coverage under the auto insurance policy for any mechanical breakdown issues at all.

I hope this helps
