Auto Insurance Claims: accident in my work parking lot, own insurance, hi mary

Question
i just got done with work and was walking to my car. got in , took a few minutes to find my sun glasses and unzipp my windows etc. began backing out and ended up hitting another vehicle. she is saying it is my fault and i dont feel i was totlly at fault. she said i walked right past her car , when i was walking to  get to my car. which is a total lie. her car was nowhere insight. i feel that she was zipping through the parking lot and not paying attention. even worse, my insurence just expired and i am thrown for a loop. my car had no damage , hers had a good size dent, not huge. I am scared stiff. no police were called, no injuries or anything. what can happen and what do i do??? unfortunately, we  have some financial issues, and were unable to pay our insurence.  i would appreciate and advice. thank you

Answer
Hi Mary,

Any time you are backing out of a parking space, you have the greater duty to be sure you have a clear path to do so. This would be considered to be your fault. With no insurance you will have to make arrangements to pay for the damage to th other car out of pocket. If you do not pay for the damage abd the other driver decides to call the police or report it to their own insurance company, they will report it top the state which could result in suspensinn of your license and vehicle registration.

I hope this helps
