Auto Insurance Claims: Property damage., drunk driver, insurance company

Question
A drunk driver rear-ended me.  Aside from my car, is his insurance liable for items in my trunk that were destroyed.  I had equipment that I use for work that were valuable, in excess of $3000

Answer
Hi Kerry,

Yes. The at fault party's insurance company is liable for any items in your car that were damaged. Of course it will be helpful if you can provide them with any receipts for the items showing their cost and the date of purchase. You should also get some prices for the replacement of those items now.

I hope this helps
