Auto Insurance Claims: automobile accident, forestville maryland, value of my car

Question
i was in a accident yesterday morning in forestville, Maryland.
A dump truck backed into my car yesterday, but his insurance company is going to take care of everything. Today i will be faxing them over the estimate, but i would like to know should i receive more money since the value of my car has been depreciated?

Answer
Hi Rosetta-

The value of your car should not be depreciated because it should be good as new when you get it back.  The only time your car gets depreciated because of an accident is when you take the money the insurance company gives you and then take the car to a third rate body shop that charges less and just uses bondo or other tricks to cut corners and then you put the extra money in your pocket.
