Auto Insurance Claims: 2 Deer collisions in less than 2 months, deer collisions, hi aaron

Question
In the month of December, we had a run in with a deer. It caused nearly $5000 worth of damage to our '07 Civic SI (12,000 miles), I was driving. After being at the shop for 21 days we picked up the car and 2 weeks later on the way home from work my wife hit another deer with the same car.

The damage is a little more extensive than the first hit. So, I'd say it's going to be slightly higher to fix than the first time.

We've been with our insurance company for nearly 10 years and never made a claim, should we worry about severe rate increases, or being dropped (neither of us ever made any insurance claims in 20 years of driving and have clean records, no citations in at least 10 years)?

In regard to the repair, will the insurance company look at the vehicles reduced value from the previous claim or will the still consider it the same value as an 'unmolested' car?

Answer
Hi Aaron,

Since this is a deer hit and considered an "act of god" and the claim is paid under the comprehensive portion of your policy, there should be no effect of your premiums. The insurance company likely will not reduce the value of your car due to the prior collision.

I hope this helps
