Auto Insurance Claims: Do I get my deductible?!!, own insurance, insurance company

On dec. 14, 2007 a truck backed into my right side of my car in a costco parking lot and I wasn't at fault and I've been paid but didn't get my deductible. Shouldn't I, because the accident wasn't my fault?!!

Hi Megan,

It sounds like you submitted your claim to your own insurance company. They will pursue recovery of the amounts they paid out along with your deductible from the at-fault persons insurance company. When your company is reimbursed they will send you a check for your deductible. This process could take several weeks to several months. You caould also try to contact the at-fault persons insurance company directly and ask them to reimburse you for your deductible directly, however you may need to provide them a copy of your cancelled check or credit card statement to show that you paid the deductible.
