Auto Insurance Claims: Insurance Settlement, insurance adjuster, insurance settlement

Question
I was hit by a car backing out of a parking spot. The other person's insurance company is handing the matter. Their insurance adjuster has viewed my car, taken pictures and offered me an estimate. The check will be arriving in a few days. Am I required by law to actually have the repairs done or can I keep the money if I'm not concerned about my car having a dent in it?

Answer
Hi Keisha,

You are under no obligation to have the vehicle repaired. However, if you are in another accident that totals your car the insurance company will deduct the cost of the prior damage from the value of your car.

I hope this helps
