Auto Insurance Claims: Insurance questions, insurance questions, auto policies

Question
Back in March 2007, my fiance and I combined all of our insurances through one company. (Home owners, Auto, Life).
We also added my 18 year old son to our policy on one of our vehicles - which was the only one he was going to be driving.  My problem is that when the insurance agent came out to our home to sell us on this company - I asked numerous questions regarding my son being put on our policy.  I was unsure as to whether I wanted to allow my son to be on our policy or make him get his own.  I asked the agent - specifically - if my son has an accident while on our insurance policy - what will happen when he goes off our policy and gets his own.  The agent specifically told me that when he was removed any increases due to him would go with him.  Because of him specifically telling me this - I decided to add my son to our policy.  Now just 3 months into the policy my son has had an accident.  My agent happend to come out to our home the day after to follow up with life insurance.  I explained what happend and again asked if he was sure that any increases would follow him and not stay with us - and now he tells me he doesn't know.  He also tells me that they could drop all auto coverage because of this accident.  I do not understand how he could mislead me while trying to sell me the insurance and also not tell me that they could drop all of our auto policies prior to signing.
The accident only happend last week and after filing the claim - I have yet to hear anything.
The accident was my son hitting a parked car - but both his vehicle and the vehicle he hit are both totaled.  No other person was involved and my son had only minor injuries, thankfully.
However, had the agent been honest with me upfront - I would have made my son get his own policy.
Is there anything that I can do about this agent basically lying to me?  Especially if the company decides to drop us.

Answer
Hi Heather,

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do unless the agent put it in writting. He would likely deny he ever said it. You will just have to wait to see what will happen. Next time put your son on his own policy and if you ask any questions about coverage, get it in writting.

I hope this helps
