Auto Insurance Claims: Auto accident, cervical disc herniation, uninsured motorist claims

Question
I was a side passenger in a car accident where we were rear ended. The auto insurance of the driver covers medical bills and other expenses to my understanding. I have had cervical disc herniation from this whiplash with resulting upper back pain that is documented by an MRI with pending appointment with a neurosurgeon. What type of compensations am i eligible to claim from the insurance company of the driver? Approximately how much compensation can be claimed? The accident was a hit and run and the police found the driver at fault to be uninsured. Would I be able to claim uninsured motorist claim from the drivers insurance company? At the time of accident, I was in drivers car in the side passenger seat.

Answer
Hi Suchi,

You should immediately contact an attorney. You may be eligible to make claims against the vehicle you were in as well as your own uninsured motorist coverage. However, uninsured motorist claims can be very confusing. You need to hire an attorney to be sure you find all of the coverage you are entitled to.

I hope this helps
