Auto Insurance Claims: multiple claims, same insurance company, Three deductibles?

Question
My house, my wife's car and my car all have farmer's insurance. When my wife tried to park into the garage, she accidentally hit my car and garage wall.  Now there will be three things need to repair. My understanding is that my wife's car insurance policy should cover all three damages since it was her fault. Bu my agent told me there will be THREE different claims from each policy, I have to pay THREE deductible.  Is this correct? thanks

Answer
Your agent is right.  There will be three deductibles in your case, which is unfortunate.

Basically, the reason for this is because you and your wife cannot be liable to yourselves for damages.  All of the damages were caused by your spouse, so you'll just have to file claims on each propery's own policy.  The wife's negligence is clear, but the insurance doesn't have to pay you for her negligence, and they don't have to pay her for her negligence.  What they do have to do is pay what the policy says.
