Auto body repair & detailing: Replacement of Window lift motor on a 2001 Ford Windstar Van - Driver Side, ford windstar van, 2001 ford windstar

Question
I have the door panel off on the driver's side.  I noticed a nut and two rivets holding the window lift motor on.  My question: How do I remove the window motor / regulator?  I noticed two rivets holding the the window motor, two more rivets holding the lift mechanism - are these to be removed? Does the window need to be in the up position?  I have also been informed by Ford, I should replace the motor regulator / motor combo - is this advisable?

Help?

Answer
Yes you must drill out the rivets and slide the whole regulator and motor assy. The motor is sold separate I do believe. The window must be in the half up position so you can see the rivets on the glass. do it all at one time so you do not have to do it again. This is no easy job to do this repair.
