Auto body repair & detailing: Dings In Body Molding, fender wells, minor scratches

Question
My wife has a three week old Jeep Liberty. Many of the body surfaces are black molding that is typical in today's vehicles. The fender wells protrude beyond the rest of the vehicle and seem to be prime targets for parking lot damage. Is there a simple way that a DIY person can restore minor scratches to these black injected body moldings?

Answer
I just detailed a Jeep the other day with the same type of molding -- smooth black matte finish fenders bolted on??  If its the same type a wax/polish can give them new life and brighten them up well.  Deeper scratches won't come out, but the lighter ones and rub marks can be improved considerably.  A wax with a little polish or cleaner will do the job.  If they have a texture to them, there really isn't much you can do, but replacing them when they're worn isn't that big of a job.
Hope that helps.
