Auto body repair & detailing: clear coat spot finishes, nissan 240sx, old paint

Question
hi, i just repainted my nissan 240sx. It came out great but i have a few spots that i did not put enough clear and look rough. My question is do i use 400 grit or something finer like 600 grit to lighty sand it to smooth it out so the clear sticks? I've been in auto body class for 2 yrs but the lighting was bad so we couldn't tell most of the imperfections are at the bottom the car like the doors, quarter panels and front bumper. I highly appreciated if u could help me out with this before i redo soon while the clear coat is still couple days fresh so i can blend it easier. Also my masking skills arn't too well and overlapped my paint by my door window. It peeled off a little and i would like to if i can blend it in if i sand it and reclear. Both colors i used were black just my new paint has a light blue pearl in it and my old paint is just dark black.

Answer
You can sand areas with 400 grit first then go to 600 grit only sand with sand paper where it is nescasary! Scuff the area surrounding the blend area lightly with a 3M gray scuff pad. Then when you blend it out use some base first and lay down at least one coat. Then lay down your clear-coat blend. The clear-coat being fresh ought to lend itself well for a good blend.
            Thank you and good luck!
