Auto body repair & detailing: Removing Epoxy, lexus sc400, amway product

Question
I have two questions that you might be able to help me with:

1. I need to remove some strips of epoxy on the rocker panels were thrown up by the tires.  The epoxy is is used to mount the reflectors in the center of the road.  Obviously it hadn't setup before they routed traffic over them.  It is now cured and looks like thin strips (like someone slung a paint from a paint brush).  I try flaking/chiping it off with my finger nail but no luck.  I need something to soften it up.  The car is a Lexus SC400 and the bottom of the rear panels are plastic.

2. What is the easiest way to get dried bug guts off the front grill.  Is there a trick or just elbow grease?

thanks, Mike

Answer
Mike,
Some laquer thinner will probably remove the epoxy, but if it's tough enough to remove the epoxy, it will probably melt the plastic also.  If the plasic is painted and smooth, you can usually use the thinner carefully and then polish the area back to new with some medium or light cut polish or cleaner.  If not, you may have to repaint the plasic after removing the epoxy.  Try a spot and see what works.

Bug guts.  Yes, they get cooked on pretty good.  Use a good all purpose cleaner like LOC, the old Amway product now available through Quixtar.com and let it soak for a minute and then scrub it with a yellow sponge with the green scrub pad on the back.  Works good.
Hope that helps,
