Auto body repair & detailing: dual liability..., atm machine, insurance deal

I just had an incident in the bank parking lot.  I was backing out of a space and into a car parked at the bank door & atm machine.  It was empty.  He was in a blind spot and if I had taken more time and waited for my neighbor to pull out I bet you and I wouldn't be having this conversation.  I bumped his Honda.  He said I cracked the outer glass of the lights (front) & the bumper has a gap between lights and bumper.  I have a lateral scratch.  The policeman said if it wasn't private property (the street) he would of given us both a ticket.  He feels we are both liable but I have a hunch, that gentleman expects me to pay all and my husband says we aren't paying a cent.  He should not of been parked there.  Maybe so, maybe not.  I should of listened to my inner voice -- I didn't.  I have no idea what it will cost to fix his items?  Ideas/suggestions?  Thx. & God Bless!!!

Do you have collision insurance? If you do call them and tell them the story youve told me.  They will likely help you in this matter. Secondly I Am not a laywer but I would try and forget about the accident. The ball is in his court see what he does.  Offer for you to repair your car and let his insurance deal with his. First off NEVER admit wrong Even if you are. It never helps.
