Auto body repair & detailing: Peeling paint, poor adhesion, ford windstar

Question
Hi Brian,

I have a 1998 Ford Windstar.  I've owned it for about 2 years.  About six months after I got it, I noticed a bit of paint flaking away in the gutters next to the roof rack, mostly on one side only.  It has now deteriorated to the point that there is missing paint in the gutter for most of the length of the roof.  There is also a some paint starting to peel away on the driver's door along the window.  Do I need to have the whole vehicle repainted to stop the problem or can there be a local solution.

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Take your van to a local body shop. There is no way to stop the paint from peeling exept sandind or stripping of the paint that has has poor adhesion. Ford has had that prob. for many years and have yet to overcome that prob. Lighter colors are the most effected. You may also take it to your local Ford dealer the may be able to help you a little with your prob.

        Hope this hepls
