Auto body repair & detailing: Power Window - 85 Chev. Silverado 4WD, jumper wires, bob daniel

Question
The power window on the passenger side of my truck will not come up, and I cannot hear the window motor running.  This is a lake pickup in an isolated location, used only to put my boat in the lake, and I would like to raise the window and disable it in the raised position.  I took off the panel but was unable to raise the glass, even with a pry bar. Any ideas?

Thanks

Bob Daniel

Answer
Take two jumper wires from a twelve volt battery or a bat. charger and splice into the two wires that control the window motor at the motor it is reversable polarity so if it doesnt work with the wires one way try the other way. Tap on the motor while you are doing this. If that does not work Take the two ten mm. bolts out of the bottom of the window. It might have 3/8 rivets either or. Disconect the window from its lower track. lift then figere a way to hold it up.  eg. vicegrips, wire watever it takes.

     Hope this helps
