Auto body repair & detailing: Auto body repair, bmw k100rs motorcycle, wet sandpaper

Question
Hi Brian,

I recently droped my 1986 BMW K100RS Motorcycle. There is pretty serious damage to the fairing in one place. I will attend the serious stuff in the winter. For now I want to fix the smaller scuffs. I just finished sanding the putty I put to fix the small scuffs on the fairing. I finished it up with 600 wet sandpaper. I than applied 2 thin coats of primer. Once I sanded the primer, most of it came off. Is it because I didn't wait long enough? And do I have to put glazing compound to hide the small scratches or will the 600 wet sandpaper do the job before I apply the paint.  Thanks for your help.

Regards from Ottawa....merci

Answer
If you wetsand out the scratches with 600 wet paper you will not have to prime at all. Primer is to fill imperfections in body filler. Wetsand real smooth and then just seal it with nonsanding sealer then paint.

      Hope this helps
