My wife backed into a white car with our Cherry Red Metallic 2004 Volvo V40.  It looks like the white paint is just on top of the cherry red paint(no visible damage to the bumper...not even a dent).  What is the best way to get this paint off without ruining the car's clearcoat and cherry red paint underneath?
Answer -
What you need is some rubbing compound and a little elbow grease. Go to your local auto supply store and get some medium grit compound. rub it on the area easy to get the white paint off then polish it then wax it. Easy job. shouldnt be to hard for you.
         Hope this helps

When you say polish.....is there any specific product I will need to use while polishing the spot after I use the rubbing compound?

Answer
There are many types of polish out there. I dont have a favorite But get one that can be applied by hand. What you are doing is smoothing out the fine scratches that the compound makes. If you get a fine grit compound You may not need to polish at all. Just wax.
