Auto body repair & detailing: swirls, grit paper, chevy tahoe

i have a black chevy tahoe with a lot of swirls and they are very visible.i was watching a show about auto detailing.he showed that you can use 2000 grit paper to get rid of dead paint,but i did it and got more swirls. he sowed step 1.wet sand with paper.2.coumpound.and 3.wax.did i miss astep or is 2000 grit to strong

 If there is nothing wrong with the surface, you should not have to use any sand paper.
 We use a foam pad on the buffer with Perfect It compound.
This combination gives panel a high glass like shine.
If you have not used a buffer before, we suggest taking your vehicle to a detail center that does buffing,  but make sure they use foam pads.
