Answer
I'm not all that familiar with these trucks, never drove or worked on one.  That said, most shifters have little plastic bushings that the pivoting parts down inside the console move in.  They used to use bronze in the old days, but they still wore out.  Only the bronze bushings wore out the steel parts as well and then the whole shifter was junk.  You'll want to go to the dealer to get the parts.  If you've never taken the console apart on a modern vehicle, then you may want to turn this job over to a pro.  These things are put together like Chinese puzzle boxes and can be very frustrating to work on if you don't have a service manual (sometimes even if you do).  Parts-wise you won't have to spend much, but the labor could run into several hours.  If getting the parts turns out to be a real problem, Hurst sells a little kit of replacement bushings that can be had at any speed shop.  They can probably be made to work in a pinch (I've had to do this before).
