Car Alarms: Remote Start Problem, remote starter, designtech

I got a 5901 Viper Alarm w/remote starter and im trying to install it in a 2001 Lincoln LsV8. I got the alarm to work but i cant get the remote starter to work. and i was wondering if the Tach wire has to be connect'ed in order for it to work? if possible guide' me thru the connections on the remote starter wires.
