Car Alarms: pain in the butt security system, alarmtek, dash area

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1996 Mazda Protege when I bought it 3 years ago it has a security system . When you try to start the car you have to turn the key to acc and wait for the chirp  to change to a chime before you can start it. Lately it hasn't been resetting itself so you can't start the car if you loosen the battery cable it resets what a pain.would you know how to unassamble this . please help If you do know you you explain it the easiest way I will have to do this myself. Thanks so much

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.
I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: the only thing this does is if you try to start the car not knowing about this security thing it won't start it will sound like you have a dead battery .bou you don't the guy I bought this from said it was on it when he bought it anyone I ask about this has never heard about such a thing but I know it is under the dash

Answer
It's likely to be an after market system.

To try to disarm it,
look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Once in Valet mode,
it will allow the car to start and operate
like there was no alarm at all.

The next step is to remove the alarm.
This might require a local technician to
identify it, and affect neccesary service for you.

That should solve the troubles.

Let me know what you discover.
