Car Alarms: Astro cargo van alarm, alarmtek, dash area

Question
QUESTION:    Hi, I’m Adrian and I just bought an ASTRO Chevy cargo van and after I exit the car, the alarm is auto-activated after a few seconds but the real problem is: when I open the door even if the alarm is off from remote control the alarm start ringing and I have to start the engine and reset the alarm button on a board. What happens, I think the alarm seems to work by itself  but apparently the remote works only with doors...If you know anything about that please tell me. I try on different auto-service but they only want to replace and I don’t want that. The car is 2005 and the alarm seems to be installed from factoryt.
Thenk you

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Hello again,
First of all sorry for my English, I’m in Canada for only 1 year and I know that my language skills are not so good but I’ll do my best for you to understand me.
To be more explicit: -as an example: I turn off engine and I’m exiting the car... After I exit and I press the remote control to close the doors, those are not closed immediately but only after 30-40 seconds. In case I exit the car and I don’t press the remote control the doors also are closed after about 30-40 seconds. When I came back to the car and I press remote control (and doesn’t matter on which way I closed the doors-remote or not) to open the doors the audible (car horn honking) start and didn’t shunt off until I insert the key (but not start the engine) and press the button to reset.
If you have any idea regarding this or if you now that is not a first, please help me
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Adrian

Answer
Hmmm, might need to be evaluated by a tech to
trouble shoot the isse. Until then, to try to disarm it,
look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Once in Valet mode,
it will allow the car to start and operate
like there was no alarm at all.

The next step is if wanting to remove it,
you contact a local technician to
locate it, and affect neccesary service
for you.

Let me know what you discover.
