Car Alarms: 1995 BMW 318ti Aftermarket Alarm, electric door locks, 1995 bmw 318ti

Question
Hi,
I just had a CompuSTAR (basic) security system installed in my daughter's BMW. First, they asked if the vehicle had electric door locks. I said yes. When I insert the key in the lock and turn it all three doors lock/unlock. Apparently this is not considered an electric locking device/assembly. So, they said I would have to come back and spend another $100 to have an actuator installed in the drivers door so the keyless entry will work? BMW says they can wire into the already existing system (behind the glove box) to get the keyless entry to work, but since it's an aftermarket system BMW won't touch it. (Cant say as I blame them) So, does the vehicle really need the actuator? There's supposed to be a 12 pin module behind the glove box and a 2 pin connection at the passenger door that will work to activate the keyless entry? Anyway, bottom line is I don't want my bottom line ($100) taken if it's not necessary...Thanks

Answer
Excellent. Glad you came out the winner with this one.
Everyone makes mistakes. The installer simply took
you for someone who would not follow up.

Big boo boo on his part to assume that.

You did good.
