Car Alarms: Prestige Car Alarm, pontiac sunfire, prestige car

Question
I just bought a 99 Pontiac Sunfire with a Prestige APS92BT2CL alarm.  After a
day the remote would no longer turn the alarm off.  The red light on the
remote would blink buit nothing would happen.  I replaced the battery and it
worked again for another day.  Now the same thing is happening- the light
blinks when I press the button but the alarm won't go off.  I don't know if this
means the remote needs to be replaced, or the alarm is defective.  I toggled it
off, but I would like to turn it back on when I figure out what's wrong.  If you
could tell me what's wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks so much!

Answer
I'd say from your expaination, it's a guess mind you,
but repositioning the alarm's antenna might improve
the range. It would be under the drivers side dash,
and when you locate the small black wire attached
to the Prestige brain, stretch it virtically,
and away from any metal frames & afixed
up as high in dash cavity area as possible.

If this does not improve the performance, it's time
to upgrade and get in a fresh system you can trust
to protect you and your investment.

Have a nice weekend.
