Car Alarms: Cant reset alarm after battery died, valet mode, resident technicians

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. My lights were left on all night and killed the battery. I charged the battery, but I can't reset the alarm. The parking and dash lights flash and the car will not start. I haven't got it to start since I charged the battery.

ANSWER: It's an after market system
from your description.

To simply disarm it, locate and use the
valet/overide switch.

To start, look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no
alarm at all. Repeat steps to put into user
mode.

Let me know how it goes.

QUESTION: I've already tried turning on the ignition key and pushing the button at the same time and it still is doing the same thing. As soon as I take my finger off the button and attempt to start the car it goes into alarm, but not audable only flashing lights. I have a remote from Mitsubishi, so could this be a factory installed alarm? Please advise on the next thing to try. Thanks,

Answer
Hmmm, ok on this one, the best thing here is
to go to my installers forum at
www.installsupport.com and see if
my resident technicians there can assist
with this project.

I unfortunately don't know the
system you are working with to advise
you properly on it's functions,
features or trouble shooting
information. Better to check with a tech
that might.

Good luck there.
