Car Stereos: adding subwoofers, lanzar amplifier, infinity kappa

Question
hi! what's up?! ahm, here was my setup before:
-kenwood excelon xxv-05v head unit
-stock 3.5" front speakers
-3-way coaxial infinity kappa 6.5'' rear speakers
-dual xpa4100 amplifier
-lanzar vector vctbs8 8" slim powered subwoofer

unfortunately, my sub was blown and i had to have it rewinded.. but after that, the lanzar seems to be not airtight anymore and doesnt sound the way it should be. and this is what i wanna ask if it would be possible...
i have a spare targa 10'' sub and i would like to make a sealed enclosure to house the 10'' targa and the 8'' lanzar (to be taken out from the slim enclosure) and use the built in ampli from the lanzar to power the subwoofer box and then connect the single sub enclosure w/ a 10'' & 8" sub into my head unit which has a sub pre out..... can i do that? thanks...

Answer
Hi Karlo,

Personally, I wouldn't try to combine the 8" and 10" sub into a single enclosure and try to drive them both with the Lanzar amplifier.  I doubt that the amplifier can run both speakers effectively, and it's very unlikely that they'll both perform well sharing the same air space in the enclosure.  However, if you can get a matched enclosure for your 10" sub alone, there's no reason you couldn't adapt the Lanzar amplifier to drive the 10" subwoofer instead of the 8" subwoofer.  I don't have any details on the impedance of the 8" driver and how it compares to your 10" sub, so I can't predict how well this would work, but it's certainly worth a try.

Hope this helps!
