Car Stereos: toyota hiace, using a multimeter, wire colors

hey i was putting in a headunit into my 1993 toyota hiace and i just cant figure out which wires are the power ac etc anychances of a diagram for wiring a headunit for this like what colours are what haha cheers

Hi Richard,

Sorry, but my resources for wiring information only cover vehicles sold in the North American market.  We don't have the Hiace here, so I don't have a source for wire colors.

If you'd like to submit a follow-up question with a list of the wire colors you have in your radio harness, I can take a look at some other Toyota models and see if they're similar.  Or, if you prefer, I can give you instructions on identifying your wires using a multimeter.

If the factory radio plug is still attached, the best way to install a new head unit is to buy the proper adapter harness to fit the stock plug.  This takes all the guesswork out of the radio wiringk, and makes it much easier to remove and replace the head unit later on.
