Car Stereos: No Sound!!!, chevrolet aveo, stock radio

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. A couple years ago, I let one of my friends hook up a system. He went through a process that involved stripping the wires and reconnecting them, and when he was finished the system worked. Then I took the system out and returned to just my stock radio. It worked alright until recently. There is no sound coming out of the speakers even though the radio/CD player is playing. The crazy thing is, the sound will come out when the driver's door is open. I though it was the wiring, but now I'm sure it isn't. PLEASE HELP!!!

Your problem may be a short in the speaker wire that goes to the speaker in the door.  If there is a short when the door is closed, it will keep the radio from functioning properly.  Many times it would blow a fuse, but the short goes away when the door is open.  I would look at the wires going from the car to the door through the door jam.  There is probably one wire that has a wear spot on it.  Wrap some tape around it, and you should be good to go.  Hope this helps, Scott
