Car Stereos: Protection mode on amp, protection mode, replicates

Question
I got 2 10" kicker competitions with a dub amp and I had it all in my car working for about a week, then it just stopped. The red light on the amp was on, so i figured my ground was wrong I checked it it was good I checked the fuses they are good. And my buddy said my amp might be in protection mode and that I have to reset it through the head unit. How do I reset the amp through the head unit?

Answer
I've never heard of an amp that can be reset via the head unit. If you've interrupted the power from the amp to shut it down at the battery (to check the fuses), that should have been sufficient to "reset" the protection mode of the amp. As you didn't state what kind of amp it was, I can't even point you to the manufacturer's website, so the only thing I can recomend you do at this point is to pull the amp and test it on the bench. If the problem replicates on the bench, then the amp probably packed it in. If it's new, I'd take it back for warranty.
