Car Stereos: Radio Head broke, chevy silverado, 2004 chevy silverado

Question
Hi, my factory installed Bose Radio in my 2004 Chevy Silverado got "assaulted" by a Bic Lighter.
The lighter exploded in the car and broke through the glass and plastic shield of the little Window and apparently has also damaged the underlying electronic. The radio still works fine though, there is no LCD though and only the broken underlying electronics are broken. My question:
Can I simply replace the screen and electronics and if yes where can I get those replacement parts, or would it be easier to get a new Radio Head (maybe even a newer one, if it fits?) or is it cheaper to go with an aftermarket system with all the mounts and adapters?

Answer
Hi Nikolaus,

Finding replacement parts, unfortunately, would be near impossible.  Your best bet is replacement.  It's a sad waste, really, but it's just how it is these days.

And yes, you'll get better sound and more features from aftermarket, and even with adapters and mounting hardware, it'll be cheaper.
