Car Stereos: Hissing Noise With Monsoon System Aftermarket Headunit Replaced, speaker sound system, monsoon system

Question
I have an 05 Pontiac Vibe without navigation, but with the Monsoon 6 speaker sound system with sub woofer. About 6 months ago, I decided to upgrade the head unit with an Eclipse AVN2210p CD player/GPS unit. It's a very nice unit, but ever since I had it installed I get a loud hissing no matter what input (CD/Radio/Aux/Ipod,GPS, etc.).  The hissing was NOT there with the factory unit.  The installer at Circuit City told me that the Eclipse system was amplified and my Monsoon system was setup to get input from a head unit that isn't amplified so my Amplified Eclipse + Amplified Monsoon system ='s a loud hiss.

I was told that I would need a very expensive re-wiring job and that I would loose the factory amp (which I think is under my seat) and I would also loose my factory sub.  That seems very extreme to me to deal with the hissing.

Is there any way the factory amp can be line-level adjusted or powered down without having to wire past it and do I really need to lose my factory sub?  Thanks in advance for any insight!

Answer
Hi Dimitrios.

Im sorry but i gotta tell u this, please stay away from Circuit City, its a little hard for me to diagnose problems like these over the internet it can be as small as a lose or bad ground to a defective head unit. I dont really think thats the problem, but even if it is there is ways to bypass the outputs on the radio without having to loose anything, by using the rca outputs from the radio. There is aftermarket harnesses and interfaces for specific vehicles that will allow you to retain your factory amplifiers and keep all its features and speakers.

My advice:Take the car to a professional car audio shop and ask for a second opinnion, also take a look into soundgate products and see if there is anything available for your car (wich im sure there is).

Please keep me informed :)
