Car Stereos: pioneer cd/ car radio, antenna cable, cb radio

Question
Mr. Wheeler , I have this cd/radio in my truck i unplugged the radio (so i could put a cb radio in.) Then i plugged everything back together, and all i get is nothing no sound, no music, I have power. It comes on but nothing. The wires are connected to the speakers, but nothing. I've unplugged the radio plug connectors and replugged them back together, still i don't get it. i thought this was simple stuff, guess i was wrong. Oh, the antenna cable is disconnected and there"s a wire jus coming out of the back of it i tried to see if touching these two would get a static noise or radio station. still nothing. Something i did get noise from was that lil' piece of wire that looks like it might be a ground ? there is a little arrow inscribed on the metal back part of the radio where a screw use to be. anyway when i touched that wire that is hanging out of the back of the radio itself i did get static some kind of noise i thought i found it but no it justs gives me static. Help me please Need my music. Signed J. Fever

Answer
Hi,

It sounds like a wire has been snapped or broken by the sounds of it.  A wire with a little arrow on it is usually ground and needs to connect the ground of the vehicle to the deck.  At this point, though, you'll likely want to take the car into a car stereo shop and have them take care of it for you since you'll have to do some wire testing to figure out what it is that's come disconnected and needs to be fixed.  It shouldn't be too much work for a competent stereo installer.

Good luck,

Justin
