Car Stereos: dual coil 4 ohm kicker l7 no sound, dual voice coil, watts rms

Question
just bought a new kenwood kac-8104d 500rms monoblock amp with the speaker inputs ++-- and a kicker s10l7 600rms 4ohm dual voice coil sub. the instructions in both the amp instructions and speaker instructions are different and neither seem to make any sound come out of the speaker although the amp lights are clearly on. what is the proper way to wire the sub for 2ohm load, how many ohms is a direct wire to the amp?

Answer
Hi John.

I made a little drawing for you on ms paint

thats the link, you need to wire that sub in parallel to get a 2 ohm load going to the amp, that way your amp will do the 500 watts RMS

hope this helps.

Cheers.
