Car Stereos: turn signals wont work, stock stereo, pioneer stereo

Question
QUESTION: I INSTALLED A PIONEER STEREO IN MY 2002 GRAND AM. I USED THE CORRECT WIRE HARNESS AND MY TURN SIGNALS DIDNT WORK. THEN I BOUGHT THE INTERFACE HARNESS TO REPLACE THE STOCK STEREO WITH THE PIONEER TO KEEP THE SAFETY LIGHTS AND CHIMES AND STILL MY TURN SIGNALS DONT WORK.  I KNOW I DIDNT BLOW A FUSE BECAUSE I PUT THE STOCK STEREO BACK IN AND THE TURN SIGNALS WORK AGAIN. EVERYTHING WORKS BUT THE TURN SIGNALS DONT. WHAT CAN I DO?

ANSWER: Hi,

It sounds like you got the wrong factory integration adapter, as your particular car also routes turn signals through the factory deck.  If you get the right adapter, your turn signals should keep working.

When you go to buy the system, make sure you tell them whether your car has on-star or not, and whether or not it has the 'monsoon' system to ensure you get the right adapter.

QUESTION: HOW CAN I TELL IF I HAVE ON STAR OR A MONSOON SYSTEM?  BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE THE SYSTEM AND I AM INSTALLING IT MYSELF.

Answer
Hi,

I believe the Monsoon system has a subwoofer in the back, and the Onstar you'd know since it requires a subscription for use and would have an onstar button in your car on the dash or near the top of the windshield where the cabin light is.

These are important things to know when buying the integration adapter, as it will change the part you need.
