Car Stereos: color coding, car stereo store, nissan frontier

Question
Ok so I have a 2001 nissan frontier and I need to know what the color coding is for the wireing harness. And I am installing a new head unit into it and the color coding for its harness is as follows. Red for ignition and, black for - ground, yellow for car battery + 12 volts, rear right is +blue and -blue/white, rear left +brown and -brown/white, front right +gray and -gray/white, front left +green and -green/white, Panel light is white.

Answer
Hi Andrew,

The colours you've explained are the standard for aftermarket harnesses.  Instead of cutting your factory wires, you'll want to buy an aftermarket stereo mating harness from your local electronics/car stereo store instead of cutting your factory wires -- it will save you a world of headaches.  If you get an aftermarket harness, it will clip into your factory harness, and then the colours will match up with your new deck's wires colours.

If you really want to cut the factory wires (you shouldn't. ;)), the colour codes can be found here:
