Car Stereos: Infiniti Bose CD left track, cd decoder, personal preference

Question
QUESTION:  I have a 2004 G35 with the Bose upgrade.  When playing a CD, the left track is barely audible.  When playing the radio, it's fine.  What do you think the problem is?
 Thanks,
  George

ANSWER: Hi George,

When you say barely audible, are you trying to set the deck to left only and listening?  The reason I ask is because radio stations are known for horribly mixing together the two channels, thereby causing sound to often sound very mono, just out both sides.

Beyond that, you might be looking at some bad circuitry in the CD player -- specifically somewhere between the CD decoder to the amplifier, in which case, you'd be looking at replacement.

QUESTION:  Yes, I am setting the deck to the left only.  I tried every CD I have and they all do the same.  There's no reasonable fix for this?  I'm not happy with Bose then.  Who else do you recommend?  I want it to appear factory.
Thanks, George

Answer
Hi George,

The unfortunate part in this situation is replacing the deck for this particular deck won't look very factory unless you replace it with another Bose G35 deck.

Beyond that, it's all about personal preference.  I like Pioneer decks mostly because their lasers appear able to read everything.
