Car Stereos: amp hook-up, amp power, hot wire

hi, i was wondering if u could tell me where i should hook-up my amp hot wire to. i hooked it straight to the battery and it killed my battery completely in 2 days.

Hi Charles,

Your amp power lead should go straight to your car battery (with some inline fuses in between).

You need to make sure that the remote wire from the deck is in the remote turn on connection on the amp, or it will stay on even when the car and deck are off, which will kill your battery.

Also, don't use the system when the engine is off, as it can't recharge the battery that way, and an amplifier will kill it pretty quickly.
