Car Stereos: Pioneer deck stops working after leaving lights on, best case scenario, wire harness

Question
Hey, Im hoping someone can help me here.
My cars battery recently died and now my pioneer deck is just blank.. nothing shows on the screen.
It's never done this before.. even losing all power from the battery never did this.
Is it time to find my security code/fuse or get a new deck?
I have a 10" kicker sub w/ 1000w amp going to it.
I just put it in a week ago and didnt hard wired it to the deck so it doesnt manually shut off with my deck... every night i need to take the fuse out.
Thought that might be a contributing factor.
Any help, It would save me a lot of time scratching my ass haha

Answer
Hi Marcel,

The first thing I would do would be to reinstall the deck properly, which includes the accessory wire hooked up so the deck turns off (or *would* turn off, anyway) when the car is off.  Then you can be sure that everything is in order and start trouble shooting from there.

If, when power is given to the deck, it does absolutely nothing, you've got either a dead fuse, or a dead deck.  Many Pioneer decks have a small fuse in the back of the deck itself behind its wire harness.  Check that, as well as the radio fuse in the car.

But before doing all of that, get an aftermarket harness, and install the deck properly; it'll ensure you're working with the best case scenario in the first place.
