Car Stereos: 2006 Monte Carlo LT Speaker system, static sound, static noise

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I just bought a 2006 2D Monte Carlo LT, with about 18,800 miles it was a GM preowned vehicle. I bought the car about 3 weeks ago. When I first test drove the car before I bought it I noticed some static in the front right side speaker, and it seemed like in the morning when I would first turn my car on I would here this sound. At times it would get really loud all by itself, then all of a sudden it stopped. I told the dealer before I bought the car, and they took it for a day and supposedly fixed it. Well after a couple of weeks, the static sound came back, and now I can hardly even hear sound on the right side of my car, and I was also told by a passenger that there is static noise coming from one of the back speakers. I don't know what the problem is, but after taking it back to the dealer again(my car is with them now), they are telling me it has something to do with playing burned CD's in the car, which I don't even really do I may have played one burnt CD since I've had the car. And they are saying its something to do with having the radio loud. To be perfectly honest I really don't drive around with my radio all the way up, so that can't be it,and again I've only had the car for a matter of weeks. I think something is wrong with the entire system because I never really got a lot of volume from the radio, since I've had the vehicle. Everyone that gets in my car tells me that I should have a lot more volume, even when I turn the volume to the max, the radio doesn't get loud. They are telling me that they replaced that front speaker the first time I inquired about the problem( not even a month ago), and now they are going to replace it again. I was hoping you could give me some insight to this problem, before I go back to the dealer again.

ANSWER: It sure sounds like a deck problem to me. The only other thing it could  be is a factory amplifier if your vehicle even has one.
Sounds to me like an output chip in the deck is on it's last legs...I'd be screaming for some warranty on this if possible...I can GUARANTEE you it has nothing to do with playing the radio too loud... they are built to withstand much more abuse than that. Also unlikley that it has anything to do with playing burned discs in it...that was an issue on a couple first generation decks but with the onslaught of CD burning technology, those issues have LONG been solved....I'd be asking for a replacement radio or at the very least having them pull the radio and having it repaired under warranty.

QUESTION:
Thank you for such a timely response, I went back to get my car today, but they said they won't be able to replace the speaker till Thursday(because they have to order the parts), but I took my brother with me to listen to the sound, he definitely heard the static in the front right speaker, and as for the volume he said it appeared to be low for a 2006 car. We asked to sit in another Monte Carlo to compare the volume, we sat in a 2007, the salesman said the radio systems would be the same, and surprisingly the volume wasn't too much of a difference. The salesman said he doesn't even know what kind of system GM manufactures the car with and it could be that it's just not a top of the line system. I don't know what to say for this because I don't know anything about radio systems and what a Monte Carlo has opposed to other systems, but could this be true? Aside from that, what I do know is that they told me that they replaced this same speaker two weeks ago, and now they are having to replace it again, and I figured as you said that I couldn't have blow the speaker playing the radio loud. So either they really didn't replace it the first time, or it is one of these other problems that you have named. To me it doesn't make since to replace the same speaker again but to look for another problem,  but they are telling me according to what they are allowed to do they have to fix the cheapest  thing first (Oh I do have a warranty on my car) and if the problem persists then look to something else. What do you think?

Answer
Honestly, I suspect they didn't replace the speaker the first time. It is logical that they would attempt to replace the most inexpensive part first. I still believe eventually you'll end up with a new deck because there is a defect in it. If the speaker replacement fixes it.. I'll be glad I'm wrong and you'll be happy also!
