Car Stereos: static sound in speaker when radio isnt on, and car isnt started?, dodge durango, fuse panel

Question
I have a 99 Dodge Durango and my car speakers are making static sounds when the car isn't started and when the radio isn't on.  It drains my battery.  I can't figure out what is going on.  My battery is  always drained if I leave it parked for a day.  I don't know if it is the speakers or the stereo.  The stero is Factory and the speakers are new, but I have had them checked and was told they are connected properly.  Please help!

Answer
Sorry Lynn, this seems a bit more complex an issue to be answered without trouble shooting your vehicle in person.
If the deck is powering down when the key is off (display lights turn off) I would pull both stereo fuses out at the fuse panel to see if the static disappears (indicating the deck is actually OFF)
If it doesn't shut off with that, you have a factory amplifier in the vehicle that is not shutting off and/or there is a problem with your deck. Without actually looking at your vehicle, I can't tell you much more than that. I'd be taking it to a qualified installer or the dealership so they can take a quick peak.
