Car Stereos: Power to radio in car I just bought, notch shape, radio silence

Question
I just got a 92 Camry. It is in top notch shape from a old lady at my church, but the radio power wont work. I checked the fuses, and their ok. I checked the cords on back of radio and they are connected... what else can I check? I need a radio... silence is driving me crazy.  Can you lead me to fixing why it has no power? or testing wiring? radio?
It is a Bose.  Where is this hooked to the battery in the engine? help me, please. Laparrish@aol.com

Answer
Hi Laurie,
Go to the following link, it will show you which wires to test at the radio to see if there is power on both the full time (battery) lead and the accessory lead. "http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Toyota-Wiring.pdf"
If there is power at both leads and the radio is grounded adequately, it would indicate that there is a problem with the radio, not the wiring. Likely it's the full time lead that is not energized. You will need a volt meter to test these. Don't use a test light unless it's deemed "computer safe".. Most cheap test lights should not be used on computer controlled vehicles unless you want to replace expensive ECM's.
Let me know how you make out.
