Car Stereos: Ford Explorer Head Unit, cool cd, ford explorer

I have a 2004 Explorer w/ 6-disk in dash CD changer and rear seat DVD. I have taken the vehicle to Europe. Is there a way to 'unlock' it to get the European stations? Or am I stuck with US tuning until I replace the stereo

To the best of my knowledge, the radio's are hard coded to the American frequency format when the vehicles are manuafactured here. You may want to check with Ford on that. I do recall having the same issues with a client who purchased a really cool CD player from Japan and brought it back to Canada... he accepted that he'd never be able to listen to Canadian or American stations. Sorry probably not the news you were looking for.
