BMW Repair: Passenger Mirror curb parking function, mirror adjustment, passenger mirror

Question
I have 2000 528i with the premium package. My Mirror memory automatic curb parking function has stopped working. The window does not tilt down when I engage the reverse gear. When I use the control button on my side (driver side) to control the mirror, it works but it will sometimes just not tilt down when I move into the reverse gear (with switch shifted to driver side). On the days it moves down when I change into reverse, it won’t come back up. The problem started when weather changed and became cold.My next door neighbor has a 1999 528i and is also experiencing the same problem, what might be the problem?

Answer
Saflugu, the signal for reverse gear is signaled from the General Module (white colored body controller) in the module carrier in the glove box. The drivers window switch has to be in the drivers mode. The issue is between the Drivers door module (window switch block) the mirror adjustment switch, the GM itself, or the passenger door module (small rectangular module behind passenger door panel.) The signal is over a Bus (multi-directional information line) that is either working or isn't. It cant be diagnosed. You basically have to swap module or switches. Sometimes unplugging and replugging back in the faulty module or component will bring the function back to life when it isn't working. I would try the cheapest components first or find someone else with a similar car and barrow components.
