BMW Repair: rpm rising, 5th gear, manual auto

when i change from 4th to 5th gear in my bmw 320sei the rpm rises as i accelerate to wards the red at about 60mph i cant go any faster as i am scared of the engine blowing as its nearly in the red please can u help

also the computer under the stereo just says input time but wont let u and the rest of it dont work either dont know if linked just brecently had instrument cluster replaced

I think this might be a repeat question, could you please let me know the model (eg, E30/E36, manual/auto )and is it only doing it between those two gears?

The computer needs to go back to the guys who replaced the cluster as if you play about with it you will invalidate any warranty on their work.

Please get back to me with a few more details.
