BMW Repair: 1997 BMW328is coupe/M52/6clynder/OBD2, camshaft position sensor, sequential fuel injection

Question
Mr. Slater, Top of the day to you sir; With this vehicle I replaced O2S bank1 sensor 1. also the VANOS Seliniod, cleared those codes, but DTC 1519 has me stumped I tried 3 different drive cycles more than 2 times in a row which set the monitors,Evap System being a little difficult.  It is my understanding that 1519 DTC is "OIL CONDITION TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT/ 'A' CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR" After I have cleared the codes via DLC under dash it can be more than 2 drive cycle before code sets again and usally less than 1 mi. distance. The diode was shot in the cam sel. and the pin was frozen is why i replaced that componet.  O2S r&r do to misfire, misfire gone.  Hopefully You Got the answer. Thank you for your time...  wllmlarue@yahoo.com

Answer
William, I would recommend replacing the oil level/condition sensor at the bottom of the oil pan. Perform oil and filter change as not to reuse the contaminated oil. Also if the engine was running rough please also replace the camshaft position sensor and o-ring. The cam-sensor will throw the check engine light more readily than the oil condition sensor. If Cam signal becomes faulty the motor will switch from sequential fuel injection to parallel injection (one injector in firing order to 3 injectors at a time)and fire companion coils at the same time because the DME has lost what cycle the engine is on. This operation can easily hurt O2 sensors if unattended to. I would perform both repairs because they are not very expensive or intensive.
