BMW Repair: 2000 528i, control arm bushings, mechanic check

Question
I am looking to purchase a 2000 528i with 110,00 miles auto trans
with a sport package. I am new to bmw's and am looking for
someone to give me a heads up to what i should look for as far as
mechanical issues before I buy. Thanks for your help.

Answer
Jamie, Cooling system is a weak link in BMW's. Many plastic parts involved that get brittle and break. Have a trusted mechanic check for the following: Leaking water pump, radiator, thermostat, Cracked or leaking Front contol arm bushings, cracked intake boot on idle valve and throttle body, sticking idle valve, leaking valve cover and oil pan gaskets, rear suspension lower control arm bushings, flexible drive disc cracking on front of driveshaft. That is where I make my money on your model when it enters my work stall (I'm a dealer Technician). Have these checked before you buy and adjust your purchase price accordingly. I didn't include any maintenance items because that is to be expected. Hope this helps
