BMW Repair: Air Conditioning, 318is coupe, inner fender

I just bought a 92 318is Coupe and im doing routine maintance work to it and i cant find anywhere where it says if the air conditioning unit is a r-12 or r-134 unit i was wondering if you might know?

The inner fender has a sticher that is red and should tell you for sure.Being a 92 I believe it should be R-12.Although R-12 is hard ,if not impossible to get. They have made retrofit kits so that R134 may be used.If your system is dead I would try to retro-fit it to R134.
