BMW Repair: Brake Pad Replacement, torx bolts, torx socket

Question
What is the process to replace the front brake pads on a '95 530i, and do you have to replace the rotors everytime you do so?

Answer
Hey Ronald, the process to replace the front brakes on your bimmer is as follows, jack up the car, remove the wheels, using a torx socket (can't remember which size) you would remove the two torx bolts holding the caliper on.  Remove the wire connected to the brake pad and remove caliper.  Replace the pads and rotors if necessary.  Reinstall caliper and tighten torx bolts.  Reinstall wheel.  That is a qucik run down of how it is done.  Replace rotors i say every two brake jobs or if groved by bad brake pads. you can cut rotors only once and get away with it.  Hope this hleps.  Let me know.

Rahim.
